Candlelight Rallies Held in S. Korea

Pyongyang, December 13 (KCNA) -- More than 5,000 south Korean people held a candlelight rally in Seoul on Sunday calling for opposing the conclusion of the humiliating Free Trade Agreement (FTA) and dissolving the "Grand National Party." They included members of the Headquarters of the All-people Movement for Checking the Conclusion of the south Korea-U.S. FTA and civic and public organizations lawmakers from opposition parties.

FTA will benefit only a handful of privileged people, they said, calling for carrying on the struggle by the concerted efforts against the present "government" and the GNP in their moves to harm the people's right to existence.

They called for totally disbanding the GNP at its deathbed.

They appealed to all the people to fight it out against the conclusion of the humiliating agreement with confidence in victory.

Peasants in Asan, South Chungchong Province also held a rally on Dec. 9 to oppose the conclusion of FTA.

The speakers accused the GNP of having railroaded the FTA motion through the "National Assembly" while turning a deaf ear to the voices of the peasants.

They vowed to never pardon the traitors selling off the interests of the people to the U.S.
