Zimbabwean President Calls for Protecting People's Rights

Pyongyang, December 13 (KCNA) -- Zimbabwean President Robert G. Mugabe, addressing the Congress of the Zimbabwe African National Union-Patriotic Front (ruling party) on Dec. 8, expressed the stand of the government to protect the people's rights.

Foreign firms have long paid very insignificant amount of tax and utilities while plundering the country of its natural resources at their will, he said, adding the government is working hard to take over the right to control the mining and manufacturing sectors from the West.

Now is the time for the government to enforce the policy of defending the economic right to make the people have access to the natural resources now in the hands of the West and win economic liberation.

His country will not stand even a step back from its sacred cause despite the hostile acts of the Western powers, he noted, calling for heightening vigilance against the hoax of the Western countries to re-colonize Africa and plunder its natural resources.
