Japan Accused of Not Redeeming Its Past Crimes

Pyongyang, December 15 (KCNA) -- The council for the solution of the issue of the volunteers corps in south Korea issued a statement on December 9 denouncing the Japanese authorities for evading the liquidation of its crimes on comfort women for the Imperial Japanese Army.

The statement said that the council is set to establish a monument to peace in front of the Japanese embassy in Seoul. The monument is meant to depict victims who met deaths after being forced into sexual slavery by the Japanese army.

The chief of Cabinet Secretary of Japan called for stopping the building of the monument, saying it will have negative impact on diplomatic activities, said the statement, adding:

This shows that the Japanese authorities feel somewhat uneasy abut the past crimes.

The Japanese government should not check the establishment of the monument but bear the legal responsibility for its past crimes and find a proper solution to it.
