Pyongyang, December 16 (KCNA) -- Events were held in various countries to mark the 20th anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il's assumption of the supreme commandership of the Korean People's Army and the 94th birth anniversary of Kim Jong Suk, an anti-Japanese war hero. They included meeting, lecture, book and photo exhibition and film show in Nepal, Ecuador and Italy and organized by the Secretariat of the Pan-African Movement between Dec. 6 and 10.

Displayed in their venues were works of President Kim Il Sung and General Secretary Kim Jong Il and photos on the revolutionary feats of the peerless great persons and books and photos introducing the efforts of the Korean people for socialist construction.

Films shown included the Korean films "The Country Shining Thanks to the Army of Mt. Paektu" and "Fireworks for a Thriving Nation."

A department director of the C.C., the Unified Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) noted the DPRK has firmly defended the socialist system and the people's happiness from the imperialist allied forces' military threat and moves for aggression as it has held Kim Jong Il as the Supreme Commander of the KPA.

The chairman of the Ecuador-Guayaquil Institute for Friendship with the Korean People noted although the DPRK is not big in its territory, it is an independent power rare to be found in the world as it is fully demonstrating its dignity and might. This is ascribable to the fact that it is guided by the immortal Juche Idea and under the Songun leadership of Kim Jong Il, he stressed.
