Winter Mingyuegou Meeting

Pyongyang, December 16 (KCNA) -- Eighty years has elapsed since a historic meeting was held in Mingyuegou, Yanji County on December 16, Juche 20 (1931). President Kim Il Sung convened the meeting of cadres of party and Young Communist League organizations to discuss putting an end to the history of the national liberation struggle in the early 20th century, fraught with failures and setbacks. The meeting focused on launching an armed struggle against the Japanese invaders. With no sovereign state at that time, it was impossible to fight the invaders through a regular war. Guerilla warfare was considered impossible either, with neither state-backing home front nor assistance of regular forces. Under such circumstances, the President set forth a unique policy of guerrilla warfare, believing that the popular masses immediately represent the state, home front and regular forces. The meeting also discussed building revolutionary armed forces and mass foundation, forming an anti-Japanese joint front of the Korean and Chinese people and other pending issues. It served as an occasion in turning the Korean people's anti-Japanese struggle into an armed struggle under the slogan "Oppose armed forces with armed forces and resist counterrevolutionary violence with revolutionary violence!" |
