Pyongyang, December 18 (KCNA) -- Events took place in different countries between Dec. 8 and 10 to mark the 20th anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il's assumption of supreme commandership of the Korean People's Army and the 94th birth anniversary of anti-Japanese war hero Kim Jong Suk. They included a meeting in Switzerland, lectures and film shows in Brazil, Guinea and Nigeria and an international Taekwon-Do tournament in Bulgaria. Displayed at their venues were works of President Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il and photos on their feats and books introducing Songun Korea. Korean films shown included "Reply of Korea" and "Fireworks for a Thriving Nation". The chairman of the Switzerland-Korea Committee said in a speech that Kim Jong Il has strengthened the Korean People's Army into the invincible revolutionary armed forces defending socialism as firm as a rock. Under his Songun revolutionary leadership the DPRK has turned into a nuclear state and a military power no one dares provoke, the speaker added. The chairman of the Santa Catarina State Committee of the Party for Free Motherland of Brazil said that Kim Il Sung is the great leader and benevolent father of the Korean people as he devoted his all to the country and the people, regarding it as his maxim to believe in the people as in Heaven. The desire of Kim Il Sung is being translated into brilliant reality by Kim Jong Il, he noted. December 24 is the birthday of Kim Jong Suk, an anti-Japanese war hero, the chairman said, adding: We pay our heartfelt tribute to her who provided firm guarantee for carrying forward the revolutionary cause of Juche through generations in the DPRK. The chairman of the Guinean Society for the Study of the Juche Literary Idea said that the two decades since Kim Jong Il's assumption of KPA supreme commandership were the days during which it has been proved that he is the peerlessly brilliant commander. A congratulatory message to Kim Jong Il was adopted at the event in Switzerland. |
