Moscow, December 17 (KCNA) -- Lawmakers of Russia on Dec. 14 rejected the resolution of the European Parliament on the election of the State Duma in Russia.

Recently the European Parliament adopted a resolution calling for declaring the results of the election of the State Duma null and void.

In this regard the first vice-chairman of the Federation Council of Russia in a press conference labeled it a shameless insult to the electors of Russia and an undisguised interference in its internal affairs.

Leonid Slutski, deputy to the State Duma, said that the European Parliament has always applied double standards and put forward the outdated scenarios, strongly urging it to stop such act of destroying the bilateral relations.

Deputies to the State Duma from the Liberal Democratic Party in a statement resolutely rejected all the impudent assertions of the European Parliament to interfere in Russia's political affairs.

Condemning the pressure and interference in the internal affairs of a sovereign state as a provocation, the statement said any attempt to impose the standard of European "democracy upon Russia" would face the most resolute counterattack.
