Pyongyang, December 23 (KCNA) -- Events took place in different countries between Dec. 14 and 16 to mark the 20th anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il's assumption of the supreme commandership of the Korean People's Army and the 94th birth anniversary of anti-Japanese war hero Kim Jong Suk. They included meetings, lectures, seminars, photo exhibitions and film shows in Cuba, Mongolia, Russia, Tajikistan, Germany, Norway, Democratic Congo, Pakistan, Nepal and Malaysia.

Juan Jose Leon Vega, first vice-chairman of the Cuban Committee for Supporting Korea's Reunification, noted in his speech at the meeting that Kim Jong Il devoted all his wisdom and energies to socialist construction and national reunification true to President Kim Il Sung's ideas and line.

He referred to the fact that Kim Jong Suk remained loyal to the revolutionary cause of Kim Il Sung till the last moments of her life.

N. Sarantuya, member of the Leadership Council of the Mongolian Mt. Paektu Association for Independent Development, in a lecture said: The DPRK's defence capability has grown stronger and fresh changes have been brought about in its economic construction. All the achievements are the results of the energetic leadership of Kim Jong Il.

The life of Kim Jong Suk praised as the mother of Korea and a woman commander of Mt. Paektu was the life of an outstanding woman activist who dedicated herself to the women's social emancipation and the strengthening of the women's movement.

Otete Gaston Mboyo, deputy general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Democratic Congo, in his speech at a meeting spoke highly of the feats performed by Kim Jong Il in developing the revolutionary armed forces of the DPRK into an invincible army.

Narayan Man Bijukchhe, chairman of the Central Committee of the Nepal Worker-Peasant Party, at a seminar expressed conviction that the Korean people would greet the period of the great development and prosperity in the near future under the banner of Songun politics held aloft by Kim Jong Il.
