Important Days of DPRK Observed Abroad

Pyongyang, December 23 (KCNA) -- Newspapers and magazines in different countries carried special write-ups and articles on the 20th anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il's assumption of supreme commandership of the Korean People's Army and the 94th birth anniversary of anti-Japanese war hero Kim Jong Suk.

The 47th issue of the Russian newspaper Patriot carried an article illustrated with the image of Kim Jong Il. It said by holding Kim Jong Il in high esteem as supreme commander of the Korean People's Army the DPRK has confidently advanced, defending socialism and showing the world people the road of social progress despite most rigorous trials.

The Indian newspaper Defense and Humanity on Dec. 13 carried photos of Kim Jong Il and dedicated one whole page to articles titled "Supreme Commander Kim Jong Il" and "Considering it as a strategic line to attach importance to science and technology."

The December issue of the Syrian magazine Jaysh Al-Shaab carried a photo of Kim Jong Il among soldiers of the Korean People's Army and edited an article titled "On the 20th anniversary of the great leader Comrade Kim Jong Il's assumption of supreme commandership of the KPA."

The Dec. 11 issue of the Bangladeshi newspaper Ekota noted in detail that Kim Jong Il's assumption of the KPA supreme commandership was an event of historic significance in defending socialism and glorifying it.

The Dec. 12 issue of another Bangladeshi newspaper Natun Kata carried an article lauding Kim Jong Il's Songun leadership exploits.

The Dec. 13 issue of the Nepali paper Gorkha Express carried a photo of Kim Jong Suk and introduced the feats she performed as woman commander of Mt. Paektu, noting that she devoted her all to the women's emancipation and the development of the women's movement.
