Pyongyang, December 24 (KCNA) -- Today marks the 20th anniversary of Kim Jong Il as supreme commander of the Korean People's Army.

On this occasion, all the Korean servicepersons and people recollect with deep emotion the great exploits he performed for the country and people.

The Korean people call him General Kim Jong Il.

This call is associated with their profound reverence for and unquestionable trust in the leader, who turned the DPRK into a dignified, invincible country.

It also mirrors their unsparing praise of Kim Jong Il, who brought about signal achievements unprecedented in the Korean history, and their firm belief that they will always emerge victorious under his leadership.

In the period of the hard-fought Fatherland Liberation War (1950-1953), Kim Jong Il received a meaningful pistol from President Kim Il Sung and cultivated his pluck and stratagem, staying in the Supreme Command.

When he entered Kim Il Sung University, Kim Jong Il climbed Ryongnam Hill to declare his will to successfully carry forward the cause started by the President.

Thanks to his energetic leadership, the country turned into an impregnable fortress and launched satellites. Many modern industrial establishments have been built on a CNC basis throughout the country.

The army and people will continue demonstrating the dignity and might of the country, chanting "Long Live Great General Kim Jong Il!"
