Pyongyang, December 24 (KCNA) -- December 24 is the significant day when leader Kim Jong Il assumed the supreme commandership of the Korean People's Army 20 years ago. This year the servicepersons and people of the DPRK are commemorating this day with bitter sorrow and grief over his demise, a great loss to the nation.

Their hearts are now breaking as they feel pangs of conscience for failing to fulfill their obligation as his disciples.

They are, at the same time, looking back on the undying feats of anti-Japanese war hero Kim Jong Suk who glorified all her life by devotedly defending the leader.

She was an indomitable revolutionary fighter who set a brilliant example in devotedly defending the leader with transparent outlook on the leader.

She absolutely trusted President Kim Il Sung, pioneer of the Korean revolution and invincible and iron-willed commander, as lodestar of the nation and great man born of Heaven and protected him at the risk of her life with unshakable faith that prosperity of the country and nation are sure to come thanks to the President.

She protected the President at the risk of her life as a human shield and fortress in such fierce battles as battle at Hongqihe and Dashahe. Her noble image in those days still deeply touches the hearts of the servicepersons and people of the DPRK.

She fought against a renegade who spoke ill of the President's ideas at the Quingfeng secret camp and carried out the tasks assigned to her by the President without an inch of deflection. This brilliant history of struggle teaches as a practical example how a revolutionary soldier should defend and uphold the leader.

The spirit of devotedly defending the leader displayed by her in her noble lifetime serves as a textbook for the army and people of the DPRK in their life and struggle and the most precious legacy.

All servicepersons and people of the country are fully determined to remain loyal to Kim Jong Un, vice-chairman of the Central Military Commission of the Workers' Party of Korea, and accomplish the revolutionary cause of Juche in the same spirit as displayed by her.
