S. Korean Newspaper Urges "Government" to Allow Mourning Visit

Pyongyang, December 27 (KCNA) -- Jaju Minbo, an Internet newspaper of south Korea, Monday carried an article titled "In mourning for the demise of Kim Jong Il, chairman of the National Defence Commission".

It is elementary etiquette towards Chairman Kim Jong Il and the compatriots in the north and the friendly feeling of the world humankind that the whole world express condolences and regret on his demise, the article said, and went on:

However, the "government" in the south has not allowed mourning visits by nongovernmental organizations and personages but warned that it would take a legal action against those mourning over his demise. This is a declaration of war to the people and an act of blemishing the good manners and customs of the Korean nation and trampling down the elementary human obligation.

Though belatedly, it should allow the political parties, nongovernmental organizations and media persons to freely visit the north to express condolences and conduct coverage and ensure establishment of mourning stations for those who are unable to pay a condolatory visit.

All media services in the south will have to come out for coverage visit and the authorities should positively ensure it.

The call of condolences on the demise of Chairman Kim Jong Il will mark a significant occasion in warming up the frozen south-north relations, as a message to the north showing the will to implement the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration, and it will undoubtedly serve as a guarantee for the peaceful reunification.
