Pyongyang, December 28 (KCNA) -- Humberto Vargas Carbonel, general secretary of the C.C., People's Vanguard of Costa Rica, made public a statement on Dec. 22 on the demise of leader Kim Jong Il.

The passing of Kim Jong Il is the greatest loss to the Korean revolution and the world revolution and the great misfortune and bitterest grief to all the Korean people, the statement said, adding:

The great Comrade Kim Jong Il performed immortal revolutionary exploits for accomplishment of the revolutionary cause of Juche, prosperity of socialist Korea, happiness of the people, national reunification and global independence.

He honorably defended the gains of socialism, valuable legacy of the great leader Comrade Kim Il Sung, with his Songun politics, all-powerful treasured sword, toward the end of the last century and turned the DPRK into an invincible politico-ideological and military power based on single-minded unity.

He energetically conducted external activities for victory of the socialist cause, world peace and stability and friendship and solidarity among the peoples, holding high the banner of independence against imperialism all his life, and thus remarkably raised the DPRK's position and prestige in the international arena.

Though he passed away, he laid a strong political and military foundation for the Korean revolution to advance generation after generation.
