Exploits of Kim Jong Suk Lauded

Pyongyang, December 29 (KCNA) -- The British Branch of the Korean Friendship Association made public a statement on Dec. 24, the 94th birth anniversary of anti-Japanese war hero Kim Jong Suk.

Kim Jong Suk took part in the anti-Japanese armed struggle, earning fame as a distinguished woman guerilla commander and a sharp shooter, the statement said.

Recalling that she safeguarded President Kim Il Sung, the sun of the Korean nation, politically and ideologically and at the risk of her life, the statement referred to the fact that she gave birth to Kim Jong Il and brought him up to be a future illustrious commander of Songun when the bloody battles against the Japanese imperialists were at their height.

Kim Jong Suk displayed noble devotion and self-sacrificing spirit during the anti-Japanese armed struggle by boundlessly valuing and loving her comrades, it noted, and continued: After Korea's liberation she dedicated herself to the people, leading a simple life.

Embodying the President's Juche-oriented theory on women's emancipation, she energetically worked to free all the women from imperialist and feudal oppression, it concluded.
