Pyongyang, December 30 (KCNA) -- A December 19 decree of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly on awarding the title of Hero of the DPRK to leader Kim Jong Il was published Friday.

Kim Jong Il performed undying revolutionary feats for the country and its people, the times and history by wisely leading the Workers' Party of Korea, army and people for decades.

Kim Jong Il, infinitely faithful to the revolutionary cause pioneered by President Kim Il Sung, developed the Juche idea, the Songun (military-first) idea founded by the President with his clairvoyant acumen and energetic ideological and theoretical activities, thus indicating the road to be followed by the era of independence.

By pursuing unique Songun-based politics, he foiled the imperialists' persistent moves to stifle the DPRK, creditably defending socialist Korea. He also turned the DPRK into an ideological and political power and a military power with nuclear deterrent, which any enemy dares not provoke.

With an unshakable will to build a thriving socialist nation as desired by the President, he guided the revolution and construction to effect a revolutionary upsurge throughout the country.

This year, too, he gave field guidance to many army units and economic sectors to significantly greet the President's centennial birth anniversary (April 15, 2012). His field guidance tour continued until the last days of his great life.

Thanks to his tireless efforts, the nation's economy has developed rapidly on the IT basis.

Many modern industrial establishments have been built throughout the country to lay solid foundations for the improvement of the people's living standard.

The Korean people, who have suffered the nation's biggest loss in the closing days of the year, are paying their highest respects to Kim Jong Il for his patriotic, revolutionary life devoted to them.

He was awarded the titles of DPRK Hero in February 1975, February 1982 and February 1992.
