The message said:

Today the Korean nation and all fellow countrymen are greeting the New Year with sorrow over the loss of leader Kim Jong Il.

Last year Chongryon consolidated the organization of Chongryon to be one of overseas citizens of the DPRK having a firm tradition of patriotism with faith in certain victory in the patriotic cause of Chongryon and energetically conducted patriotic activities with the younger generation playing a main role, thus steadily developing the overall Koreans movement in Japan along the road of surge and leap forward.

Chongryon genuinely contributed to achieving the independent reunification of the country and the cause of building a thriving nation by the concerted efforts of broad strata of officials and compatriots and conducted brisk external activities for protecting the legitimate position of Chongryon and all rights of compatriots, the message noted, and continued:

2012 is a historic year in which the gate to a thriving socialist state should be opened and the movement of Koreans in Japan be developed on a new higher stage to usher in a great period of prosperity for glorious Kim Il Sung's nation.

Chongryon and compatriots in Japan should make a tangible contribution to the independent reunification of the country and its prosperity and make positive efforts to achieve amity and friendship with the Japanese people.

The message expressed belief that Chongryon and Koreans in Japan would turn the present sorrow into strength and courage to achieve signal successes in the work this year under the leadership of the dear respected Kim Jong Un. It wished the chairman and all other officials of Chongryon and Koreans in Japan good health and happiness.
