Memorial Service for Kim Jong Il Held in Democratic Congo

Pyongyang, January 2 (KCNA) -- A memorial service for Kim Jong Il took place in Kinshasa on Dec. 28 last year under the sponsorship of the Democratic Congo Committee for Memory of the Great Leader Kim Jong Il. Present there were personages of the political parties and organizations including the Communist Party, the People's Rally for the Socialism and the Working Citizens' Association and members of the organizations for the study of the Juche idea and the friendship and solidarity organizations. Participants laid wreaths before the portrait of Kim Jong Il and paid tribute to him. Then they watched the video of the solemn ceremony of bidding last farewell to Kim Jong Il held in Pyongyang. Speakers praised the undying feats of Kim Jong Il who ushered in the turning phase of building a thriving nation and reunifying the country by the Juche idea and the Songun politics and made great contributions to defending socialism and global independence. Adopted there was a joint statement. The statement noted that they are sure that though Kim Jong Il passed away, the Korean people would turn the grief of today into strength and courage under the wise leadership of the dear respected Kim Jong Un, great successor, and firmly defend socialism, the valuable heritage bequeathed by President Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il, and further strengthen it. It stressed that Kim Jong Il would always live in their minds, adding that his idea and cause would be immortal and the DPRK would continue to be prosperous as Kim Jong Un stands in the van of the Korean revolution. |
