Pyongyang, January 2 (KCNA) -- Casualties by floods are increasing in number in Thailand. The flooding left 790 persons dead and three missing as of December 29 last year. The number of victims reached 2.3 million in the central region of the country. Meanwhile, floods by heavy rain recently stroke Australia's northern territories, creating confusion. Dwelling houses were under water, many residents were left homeless and roads were blocked while a freight train was derailed. At least three villagers have died and 2 561 have been displaced by volcanic mudflow in eastern Indonesia. A government spokesman said heavy rains caused cold lava and debris to flow into villages near Mount Gamalama in Ternate, Maluku province on Tuesday. |
