It was built on September 15, 1969, under the instructions of President Kim Il Sung to bring up the children well. It is one of the model nurseries in the country in scale, equipment, management, health care and emotional education for children.

It has two five-storey main buildings, three-storey refectory, two-storey amusement centre, children's ward and play yard.

The main buildings accommodate some 500 children at the age from 2 and a half to 4 and more than 150 kindergarteners. Each floor has bedrooms, play hall, ultraviolet treatment room and bathrooms.

The nursery pays close attention to taking care of the children's nutrition and health and bringing them up in a cultural and scientific way.

President Kim Il Sung visited the nursery on January 4, 1972.

The nursery was awarded the Order of Kim Il Sung.
