The statement expressed profound condolences to the dear respected Kim Jong Un, the membership of the Workers' Party of Korea, service personnel of the Korean People's Army and all the Korean people and referred to the brilliant heroic life of Kim Jong Il.

He held aloft the torch of struggle for the cause of socialism lit by President Kim Il Sung and proved before the world in practice the superiority of the socialist system to the capitalist system driving civilization to a worldwide crisis, the statement noted, and went on:

Kim Jong Il embodied the Songun politics which calls for attaching importance to military affairs as a political mode of the state. As a result, the DPRK's armed forces have been highly modernized, a new foundation has been laid for the defence industry and the country has had access even to nuclear deterrent for protecting its sovereignty from the imperialists' encroachment.

Thanks to his Songun politics a gigantic work was undertaken by the DPRK to update all fields of the national economy and the development of science and technology reached a new level.

All the achievements made in the DPRK and its high international prestige clearly proved the greatness of Kim Jong Il as a far-sighted and sagacious leader.

The statement expressed the conviction that under the leadership of the WPK headed by Kim Jong Un the Korean people would as ever dynamically advance along the road indicated by Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il.

The memory of Kim Jong Il, a great statesman, will always be cherished in the hearts of not only Korean people but progressive mankind, stressed the statement.
