It was with great sorrow that I learnt of the passing away of HE Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea, chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK and supreme commander of the Korean People's Army.

I, on behalf of the Algerian people and government and on my own, express our most heartfelt condolences to Your Excellency and extend firm solidarity to you and the friendly people of the DPRK.

The feats of the great man who devoted his all to the prosperity of the DPRK and its people will be recorded in history.

Algeria will always remember as the eternal friend the great man who worked hard to strengthen the traditional relationship of friendship and cooperation between our two countries.
