Now the army and people of the DPRK are speeding up the grand advance to glorify 2012 as a year of proud victory when an era of prosperity is unfolding true to the behests of Kim Jong Il under the leadership of the dear respected Kim Jong Un.

Kim Jong Il, the peerlessly great man, is an outstanding thinker-theoretician, prominent statesman and rare illustrious commander of Songun produced by humankind.

Shouldering upon himself the heavy burdens of the Korean revolution, he led the revolutionary cause of Juche, the socialist cause to victory for many years and thus performed enormous feats which would remain long in the history of the country.

He strengthened the WPK into a great party in which monolithic ideology and leadership and continuity are firmly established, a veteran and tested, revolutionary party guiding the era of Juche and Songun and a genuine motherly party which faithfully serves the popular masses with its roots taken deep into their mind and enjoys their absolute support and trust.

Under the banner of Songun (army-first policy) he built up the Korean People's Army into an army strong in ideology and faith which regards it as its life and soul to devotedly defend the leader, ranks of ardent patriots who love the country and people very much and reliably protect them with arms, and an invincible revolutionary army of Mt. Paektu ready to defeat any aggressors at one stroke.

He turned the DPRK into the homeland of Songun, where the leader, party and masses form a harmonious whole and the great army-people unity is successfully realized, and a socialist state centered on the popular masses where priority is given to the demand and interests of the popular masses and everything serves them.

With great magnanimity based on patriotism, he opened a fresh turning phase for Korea's reunification, the supreme task of the nation, and raised the prestige of the WPK and the DPRK in every way and unfolded a new chapter for the development of international relations based on independence through his tested and energetic external activities.

Thanks to his indefatigable Songun revolutionary leadership, world-startling miracles and changes were wrought in all domains of social life including politics, military affairs, economy and culture and the new era of building a thriving nation, a new history of unprecedented prosperity, has been opened in the country.

While leading the revolution and construction for a long period, he authored a large number of celebrated works through his energetic ideological and theoretical activities and developed in depth the immortal Juche idea, the Songun idea, making distinguished contributions to the development of the progressive idea of mankind.

His works systematically and comprehensively deal with the lines and policies of the WPK and expound on a scientific basis all the theoretical and practical problems arising in the revolution and construction. They also give extensive and profound analysis of the ideas and theories and cultural assets won by mankind in different periods of history as well as the achievements, experience and lessons gained in the struggle for independence of the popular masses.

For originality and validity of the ideas and theories contained in them, those works have served as an ever-victorious banner steering the times and revolution and a true textbook in the struggle for independence of the popular masses.

The WPK Central Committee will publish the book "Complete Collection of Kim Jong Il's Works" on the occasion of his 70th birth anniversary, out of the desire of the Korean people and the world progressives to glorify his feats for all ages.

It is high honor and pride of the WPK and the Korean people to release this book which comprehends the immortal ideological and theoretical exploits performed by Kim Jong Il on behalf of the country and the people, the times and history.

The book, an eternal treasure of the WPK and the Korean revolution, will be greatly helpful to fully arming all the party members, service personnel, working people and school youth and children with the revolutionary outlook on the world, accomplishing the revolutionary cause of Juche and realizing global independence.
