Ryabkov told the state-owned Itar-Tass news agency that Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) should exert more efforts to solve the issue by dialogues and cooperation.

Ryabkov also urged Iran and Western countries to refrain from statements and actions that could aggravate the situation in the Strait of Hormuz.

In addition, the official stressed that Russia rejects oil sanctions against Iran, as the new sanctions would not strengthen the nuclear non-proliferation.
