Present at the meeting were Ho Jong Man, chief vice-chairman of the Chongryon Central Standing Committee, and Chongryon officials from different sectors.

All the participants paid a silent tribute in humble reverence to the memory of General Secretary Kim Jong Il.

Ho Jong Man said in his report that Kim Jong Il was the great leader and very kind-hearted teacher and father as he guided Chongryon and the movement of Koreans in Japan along the road of victory and showed warm care and benevolence for the officials of Chongryon and Koreans in Japan.

Chongryon will hold President Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il in high esteem forever to the end of the sun and the moon and uphold the dear respected Kim Jong Un as the centre of unity and leadership, the reporter said.

He stressed the need for Chongryon to hold aloft the slogan "Let us lay a spring board for bringing a new heyday of Chongryon in 2012 under the leadership of the dear respected Kim Jong Un, true to the behests of the great General Kim Jong Il!" this significant year.

Chongryon will make tangible contributions to the independent reunification and prosperity of the homeland and strive for friendship between the two peoples between the DPRK and Japan, he said.

It will also conduct more vigorously the movement for national reunification under the banner of "By our nation itself" this year marking the fifth anniversary of the publication of the October 4 declaration, a program for implementing the June 15 joint declaration.

Then oath-making speeches were made at the meeting.

A letter to Kim Jong Un was adopted there.

The letter said that as descendants of Kim Il Sung and disciples of Kim Jong Il the officials of Chongryon and Koreans in Japan would grandiosely commemorate the Day of the Sun, the centenary of birth of Kim Il Sung, and the Day of the Shining Star, the 70th anniversary of birth of Kim Jong Il, this historic year as the greatest holidays of the Korean nation and the world people and strikingly display their patriotism and loyalty to steadily inherit one idea and one bloodline.
