The past two decades since the publication of the work were a period of surge in literary and art creation during which masterpieces stirring the era had been produced in a large number.

Among them are revolutionary and militant songs that can never be exchanged with a colossal amount of food and revolutionary, optimistic and emotional poems consistent with the idea that ordeal and trial is temporary and rosy future is sure to come. They had served as the march of struggle and companion of life for the Korean army and people.

When the DPRK was going through stern trials, its creators composed such songs as declaring that arduous march is sure to be followed by happiness. They loudly eulogized the victory and miracles wrought under the Songun revolutionary leadership of Kim Jong Il.
