The breeding method employed by the farm is so effective that other fish farms are greatly interested in it.

Jang Yong Gwan, chief engineer of the Pyongyang Catfish Farm, told KCNA:

"The weight of the new variety averages 3.5kg. We had some limitations in catfish production before. So, we have employed a new method of giving physiological irritation to catfish and improved the incubation technology.

We have also increased fish spawning and fertilizing rate with use of pituitary. Now the catfish production is 1.5 times higher than before the introduction of the new method."

The Pyongyang Catfish Farm is one of the country's major fish farms.
