The reunification movement of the Korean nation is a movement of the Koreans which advances thanks to their great patriotic zeal and devoted struggle. It is, at the same time, a nationwide movement which can succeed only when all Koreans pool their efforts and unite close in their struggle.

For Koreans to depend on foreign forces and allow their domination and interference is as foolish an act as abandoning their national rights of their own accord though they are responsible for national reunification.

Since ancient times, Koreans have been known to be strong in unity and they have pooled efforts and wisdom in their struggle against aggressors and to achieve national sovereignty.

Only when all Koreans at home and abroad fully display the spirit of independence, the spirit of rejecting outside forces, by preserving the peculiarities of the nation's tradition, and the patriotic resolution to save the destiny of the nation, will the driving force for national reunification grow stronger and is it possible to meet any challenge of the separatist forces at home and abroad.

Whoever loves the country and the nation and stands for national reunification should unite under the banner of national reunification irrespective of ideology, system and religious belief.

Differing ideology, system and religious belief can never be reasons for Koreans of various strata to fail to unite in the struggle for national reunification. This is proven by the achievements and experience gained in the nation's movement for reunification which has made dynamic progress under the banner of the north-south joint declaration.

All the Koreans, be they in the north and the south and abroad, have a noble national duty to devote their efforts and wisdom as those responsible for the movement for national reunification and thus contribute to reunification.
