Candlelight Rally against FTA Held in S. Korea

Pyongyang, January 30 (KCNA) -- Members of civic and public organizations and opposition parties of south Korea held a candlelight rally in Seoul on Saturday in demand of the abrogation of shackling FTA with the U.S. It was sponsored by the Headquarters of the All-People Movement for Checking the Conclusion of the south Korea-U.S. FTA.

At the rally speakers said that the FTA is a humiliating and unequal agreement as it was dealt behind the scenes by one percent group of those in power steeped in flunkeyism to the marrow of their bones.

The 99 percent of the population demand the repeal of the agreement, they said.

They warned that the people would surely punish the 151 politicians who railroaded the "motion calling for ratification of FTA" in the forthcoming parliamentary elections.

In the meantime the authorities hurled six companies of police into the venue, creating terror-ridden atmosphere.
