The Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly Friday promulgated a decree in this regard.

This state citation will be awarded to the youth league organizations and their officials and young people that set examples in the sacred struggle for further developing the youth movement led by Kim Jong Il to victory, defending the country and building a thriving socialist nation.

Kim Jong Il Youth Honor Prize is the highest prize for the Korean youth along with Kim Il Sung Youth Honor Prize.

The medal of Kim Jong Il Youth Honor Prize has a portrait of smiling Kim Jong Il engraved with golden color in relief in the golden color circle of 20 mm in diameter inside a red flag of 31 mm in length and 23 mm in width and there are below it 15 rays, Lake Chon on the top of Mt. Paektu and letters "Kim Jong Il Youth Honor Prize" on the blue band 20 mm in length and golden laurel trees on both sides.

The red flag bearing the portrait of smiling Kim Jong Il symbolizes that the youth dynamically advance toward the struggle to accomplish the revolutionary cause of Juche true to the leadership of the dear respected Kim Jong Un and Lake Chon on Mt. Paektu symbolizes that the brilliant revolutionary tradition of the Workers' Party of Korea should be carried forward and developed.

The blue band inscribed with letters "Kim Jong Il Youth Honor Prize" and golden laurel trees symbolize the youth rallied as firm as a rock around Kim Jong Un and the firm resolution of the youth to take the lead in the work and life as befitting the soldiers of Kim Jong Un.

Letters "The Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly" are inscribed on the back side of the medal.

The medal having a metal plate inlaid with seven precious signs of the tri-color flag of the Republic 30 mm in width and 6 mm in length is connected with a link and has a pin on the back side of the metal plate.
