The Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK promulgated a decree on it Friday.

The institution of this prize is aimed at conveying to posterity the undying feats he performed for developing the children's union, his great loving care shown for its members and this state citation will be awarded to those who distinguished themselves in firmly preparing themselves as successors to the revolutionary cause of Songun, bearing deep in mind the august name and Kim Jong Il's smiling image.

This prize is the highest prize for the Korean children along with Kim Il Sung Children Honour Prize.

The badge of Kim Jong Il Children Honour Prize has a portrait of smiling Marshal Kim Jong Il engraved inside a golden circle 20mm in diameter in the center of a golden five-point star with golden rays 37mm in length and 37mm in width.

There are below it Lake Chon atop Mt. Paektu and letters "Kim Jong Il Children Honour Prize" on the national flag-shape band 20mm in length as well as a golden laurel trees on both sides of the star.

The five-point star symbolizes the Korean Children's Union protecting the dear respected Kim Jong Un politically and ideologically with their lives and dynamically advancing for the accomplishment of the revolutionary cause of Juche despite any trials, armed with the great Juche idea,

The Lake Chon is symbolic of the will to carry forward the revolutionary traditions of the Workers' Party of Korea through generations and the laurel trees represent the determination of the members of the union to advance, united close around Kim Jong Un.

The band symbolizes their resolution to hold Kim Jong Il in high esteem as the eternal sun of Juche and always prepare themselves for the socialist country true to the leadership of Kim Jong Un.

Inscribed on the back of the badge are letters "Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK" and it has a pin.
