Kim Jong Un Inspects Command of KPA Navy
Pyongyang, February 6 (KCNA) -- Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Kim Jong Un, supreme leader of the Workers' Party of Korea, state and army of the DPRK, inspected the Command of Combined Unit 597 of the KPA Navy and its units.

He inspected Unit 790 of the KPA Navy honored with the title of O Jung Hup-led Seventh Regiment.

He gave the navymen of the unit a pair of binoculars and an automatic rifle as souvenirs and had a picture taken with them.

He went round the room for education in the revolutionary history, the room devoted to the history of the unit, the warship honored with the field inspection made by President Kim Il Sung and General Secretary Kim Jong Il and the monument to their revolutionary activities.

He got aboard a warship at anchor at a port and acquainted himself with how its crewmen have always kept its combat and technical equipment ready to go into action before watching navymen in training.

He set forth the tasks to be performed by the unit to bolster its combat capability.

Going round the service personnel's hall and combined service facilities of the unit, he learned about the political and ideological education of navymen and supply service.

He inspected Unit 158 of the KPA Navy.

He gave its navymen a pair of binoculars and an automatic rifle as souvenirs and had a photo session with them.

Making the rounds of a bedroom, education room, mess hall and various other places of the sub-unit of the unit, he took care of the living of the navymen as their real father would do.

After coming out to a navy port, he got aboard Torpedo Boat 1307 and guided tactical training.

He watched with keen attention navymen in training from its commanding post. He encouraged them, telling them to speed up and make bold maneuverability.

He praised the captain of the boat, patting him on his back for commanding it with skilful navigation while changing the course quickly and accurately.

Praising the navymen who lined up on the prow deck after the end of the training, he had a picture taken with them.

He inspected the Command of Combined Unit 597 of the KPA Navy.

He had a photo session with its service personnel.

He first went round the room for education in the revolutionary history and the room devoted to its history.

The history of the development of the unit is recorded with feats which strikingly demonstrated the might of the KPA Navy by sinking or destroying a lot of enemy warships including the battle results unprecedented in the world history of naval battles KPA navymen achieved by sinking the U.S. imperialist heavy cruiser "Baltimore" with just four torpedo boats in the naval battle in Jumunjin during the Fatherland Liberation War.

Looking at historic mementoes and data, he recalled with deep emotion the path of victory and glory covered by the combined unit.

The combined unit is a unit which has fully displayed patriotic devotion and popular heroism in the defence of the country and socialist construction for decades and performed proud feats in this course including the capture of the U.S. imperialist armed spy ship "Pueblo" which intruded into the territorial waters of the DPRK, he said, calling upon the service personnel of the combined unit to preserve this tradition and demonstrate the invincible might in devotedly defending the country in the future, too.

Going round military objects, operation study room, lecture room and library, he acquainted himself in detail with the unit's performance of duty.

He praised all the commanding officers and staff members for having prepared themselves to skillfully command naval operations and battles under any difficult situation by successfully building rooms for the study of operations so that they might deeply study and fully apply the Juche-based military strategic and tactical ideas and war methods of the WPK and conducting effective trainings to improve the ability to organize naval operations and battles and the commanding capability.

The navy has a very important mission and role to play in the country bounded with seas on its three sides, he said, putting forward important tasks which would serve as guidelines for further bolstering the naval force.
