The appeal, carrying the strong will to bring a new turning phase for independent reunification this meaningful year, clearly shows the way for preventing disasters of a nuclear war in the Korean Peninsula and achieving its peace and independent reunification, the statement said.

Though the anti-national and anti-reunification Lee Myung Bak "government" of south Korea is intensifying suppression by dint of the "Security Law", it can never dampen the nation's desire for independence, democracy, peace and reunification, it said.

The statement called for significantly holding joint reunification events of the nation on the occasions of the 12th anniversary of the June 15 joint declaration and the 5th anniversary of the October 4 declaration, as appealed by the above-said committee.

The Federation of Koreans in the U.S. will struggle against the anti-national separatist forces, hand in hand with all the patriotic forces at home and abroad, and do its best for the country's independent reunification and prosperity of the nation, it declared.
