It is a noble national duty to thoroughly defend and implement the inter-Korean declarations, the statement said, adding that the idea of "By our nation itself", the main spirit of the June 15 joint declaration, serves as the banner to be constantly put up till the day when the cause of national reunification has been accomplished.

The Lee Myung Bak "government" and separatist forces in south Korea pushed the north-south relations to the worst phase by pursuing the policy for extreme confrontation and are desperately trying to block the independent reunification of the nation through large-scale war games for aggression on the DPRK in collusion with outsiders, it charged.

The Overseas Side Committee will positively contribute to marking the 12th anniversary of the June 15 joint declaration and the 5th anniversary of the October 4 declaration as a reunification event common to the nation with splendor and thus fulfill its mission for the times and the nation, it declared.
