Pyongyang, February 10 (KCNA) -- The Emergency Measure Committee of the "Grand National Party" of south Korea announced "Saenuri Party" as a new party name on Feb. 2, adding that the new party name will be finally decided at the national convention of party committees. Minju Joson Friday says in a bylined article in this regard: The GNP gentries are claiming that the new party name was selected from among contest entries, defying criticism from people. As known well, as soon as the contest entries on the new party name of the GNP were announced, people called it "a dirty party", "mad party" and so on. The GNP's homepages and notice boards were peppered with strange party names. At the prize contest for "renaming the GNP" held by the New Progressive Party, putting up "enveloped cash prize without money", "the party that sold off the country" emerged a winner. Such derision and jeers have grown stronger since the announcement of the new name for the GNP. Posted on internet homepages in succession are articles querying "Does this mean an intention to enjoy fresh power" and "GNP had better cease its efforts for increased power." Opposition parties ironically question "Is a new house having a new door plate only, leaving the house as it is." People from all walks of life are mocking at the "Saenuri Party" as "Bird beak party" and "Rag party", adding that "the nature of the GNP remains unchanged even after having a new name". Members of the emergency measure committee opposed the replacement of the party name. Yu Sung Min, pro-Park leading member, said that "he could not accept the decision of the committee on changing the party name," adding "such important issue should be solved in line with the intention of members of the committee at the general assembly of the members". One should wait and see if the proposed new party name will pass through the national convention of committees of the GNP. But what is clear is that the GNP behaved against people's mindset. |
