Its participants will compete in 10 events including basketball, volleyball, table tennis, handball, shooting, skiing and ice hockey in Pyongyang and Samjiyon.

Its opening ceremony was held at the Basketball Gymnasium in Chongchun Street Friday.

Present were Yang Hyong Sop, vice-president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly, Choe Ryong Hae, secretary of the C.C., the Workers' Party of Korea and others.

Pak Myong Chol, minister of Physical Culture and Sports, made an opening address.
