The meeting discussed the action orientation of Pomminryon to make a breakthrough for independent reunification this year by putting spurs on the reunification movement through firm unity of all compatriots in the north and the south and abroad under the banner of the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration.

A report was made at the meeting.

The report censured the south Korean conservative authorities for having totally denied the inter-Korean declarations and escalated confrontation with fellow countrymen and war moves since they took office and thus driving the north-south relations to collapse.

It noted that Pomminryon made devoted efforts in the van of Koreans for national harmony and independent reunification without any vacillation despite manifold difficulties and trials last year.

It set forth the tasks and ways for Pomminryon to hold higher the slogan "Let all the compatriots open the gates of national reunification full of fresh confidence!" this year.

A joint resolution was adopted at the meeting.

Expressing the will to invariably hold high the banner of the historic June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration, the resolution said:

We will take the lead in successfully holding joint national events with attendance of people of broad strata from the north and the south and overseas to mark the 12th anniversary of the historic June 15 joint declaration and the 5th anniversary of the October 4 declaration and thus let the atmosphere of implementing the inter-Korean declarations and achieving national reconciliation and unity prevail over the whole of Korea.

Pomminryon will resolutely foil the war and confrontation moves of the bellicose forces at home and abroad.

For the present, it will wage vigorous struggle to check Key Resolve and Foal Eagle joint military exercises the bellicose forces of south Korea are going to finally stage with the U.S.

On the other hand, it will resolutely reject all sorts of anti-reunification conceptions on confrontation such as "adherence to principles" and "confrontation between systems" and military nexus with outsiders.

Pomminryon, together with other organizations and personages of different circles, will get the U.S. troops, a main stumbling block to peace and a root cause of evils, withdrawn from south Korea and surely force them to pay for the crimes committed against Koreans historically.

This year it will strive on its initiative to achieve the great unity of broad forces aspiring after progressive and democratic reforms.

We will join hands with all political parties, organizations and personages desirous of implementation of the inter-Korean declarations, peace and reunification, social progress and democracy.

We will work hard to strengthen concerted action with broad people of different strata and ensure firm solidarity with All-Korean Committee for Implementation of June 15 Joint Declaration and, for the present, take the lead in the struggle to remove the "May 24 steps" and activate visits and contacts between the north and the south.

Pomminryon will hold with splendor a "meeting of Koreans from the north and the south and abroad for independence and great unity of the nation" every year with August 15 of this year as a staring point and thus consolidate the three-party solidarity, which has been protected in blood for over the past two decades, and remarkably strengthen its might and inspiringly encourage all compatriots to the movement for national reunification.
