It is the unanimous will and desire of all service personnel and people to convey down to posterity the immortal feats he performed for the country, revolution, times and history, with the unshakable faith that he is always be with us.

A decree on issuing the coins was promulgated by the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly on Feb. 9.

Kim Jong Il in jumper with a broad smile on his face is engraved in the center of the front side of the coins and its circumference has 70 points. Seen in their upper parts are letters "The Great Leader Comrade Kim Jong Il Will Always Be Alive" and in their lower parts letters "70th Birth Anniversary, 1942-2012" and their both sides are decorated with three magnolias.

Engraved in relief in the center of their backs are the old home of Kim Jong Il in the Paektusan secret camp against the background of Jong Il Peak and given there are their purities and weights. Seen in their upper parts are letters "Central Bank of DPRK" and in their lower parts the year of their issue.

The pure gold coin is 35mm in diameter and 2mm in thickness while pure silver coin is 40mm in diameter and 3mm in thickness.
