Present at the ceremony were Kim Yong Nam, Choe Ryong Hae, officials concerned, sportspersons and working people.

Also attending it were the overseas Koreans' delegations, compatriots, the chief of the Pyongyang mission of the Anti-Imperialist National Democratic Front and foreign guests.

Figure skaters from the DPRK, Russia, China, Bulgaria, France and Finland entered the ice rink.

Minister of Physical Culture and Sports Pak Myong Chol made an opening address.

Then followed a demonstration performance "Great sun of Songun shining all over the world".

The DPRK figure skaters staged colorful numbers such as "Fortune of Korea", "Song of love for people" and "Footsteps."

They impressively represented the faith and will of all the service persons and people to make this year a year of prosperity to be specially recorded in the glorious history of Kim Il Sung's nation, Kim Jong Il's Korea under the leadership of the dear respected Kim Jong Un, holding Kim Jong Il, eternal heart and great power of the DPRK, in high esteem.

Foreign figure skaters also presented diverse numbers, exhibiting their high technique.
