Message of Condolences to Chongryon Central Standing Committee

Pyongyang, February 21 (KCNA) -- The Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly and the Cabinet of the DPRK on Feb. 20 sent a message of condolences to the Central Standing Committee of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon) over the death of So Man Sul, deputy to the SPA and chairman of the Chongryon Central Standing Committee. So Man Sul was a veteran activist and ardent patriotic loyalist of the overseas Koreans movement who devotedly worked for the prosperity of the country and the development of the movement of Koreans in Japan with intense loyalty to President Kim Il Sung and general secretary Kim Jong Il and warm patriotism for a long period after the liberation of the country, the message said, and went on: So Man Sul made a great contribution to glorifying generation after generation Chongryon, a genuine overseas citizens organization of the DPRK, as a patriotic pioneer, an example of patriotic devotion and a model of the world overseas compatriots movement, in hearty response to the Juche-based line and policies of the President on the movement of Koreans in Japan. He worked hard for the independent and peaceful reunification of the country and its prosperity, the national rights and happiness of the Koreans in Japan till the last moments of his life while bravely overcoming the manifold difficulties and ordeals with the unshakable faith in Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il. His death at a historic time when an immensely bright new era is unfolding before the Korean nation is a great loss to Chongryon and the country. Though he passed away, the shining feats performed by him and the contribution he made to the victorious advance of the patriotic cause of Chongryon, single-mindedly trusting and following Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il, will always go down in the history of the nation. |
