Okinawa Gov. Calls for Moving U.S. Base outside Prefecture

| Pyongyang, February 23 (KCNA) -- Okinawa Gov. Hirokazu Nakaima on Monday submitted to the Defense Ministry his opinion on the relocation of a key U.S. base within the southern island prefecture, saying it would be ''impossible'' to protect the environment around the envisaged relocation site under the current plan. The opinion reflects the local community's opposition to the plan and desire to see the U.S. Marine Corps' Futenma Air Station moved outside Okinawa. |
