It is trying to convince the public that it is concerned about the "separated families issue".

This is another farce aimed to shirk the responsibilities for having escalated confrontation between fellow countrymen and plunged north-south ties into deadlock during its four years in office.

As recognized inside and outside, the Lee group is wholly to blame for completely undercutting the efforts for the humanitarian interactions that had been active between the north and the south after the publication of the June 15 joint declaration.

After taking office, the group, talking about "a lost decade", totally negated and blocked the implementation of the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration, cornerstone for improving the north-south relations and a landmark for national reunification.

Pursuant to the U.S. policy to stifle the DPRK, it escalated anti-DPRK smear psychological campaign and nuclear war drills in a phased manner and, not content with this, checked civilian meetings from the beginning by effecting the "May 24 measure."

The puppet group has constantly abducted or kidnapped Koreans on border areas or in the third countries. It also put into custody, appeased and pressed fishermen of the DPRK who went adrift in the sea for unexpected reasons, thereby creating more "separated families".

The confrontation maniacs and cursed human rights abusers are talking about "pains of separated families". This is an intolerable mockery and insult to all the Koreans including those families and relatives directly suffering from the separation.

What should not be overlooked is that the group of traitors plans "unofficial exchange and aid for separated families" via China and other channels under the signboard of "humanitarianism."

Its loud talk about "civilian-level reunion through a mediator or a third country" and "reinforcing relief fund" speaks volumes for its criminal nature.

This is aimed to abduct and kidnap more Koreans as an extension of the operations for creating "defectors from the north" and "surrenders" it had desperately carried out to "undermine" the DPRK for years.

It is clear that this will destroy the basics of humanitarian cooperation, to say nothing of the fundamentals of the north-south ties and furthermore, create more "separated families."

It is precisely for this reason that representatives of hundreds of political parties and organizations pressed the regime to overhaul its policy for a fundamental change in the south-north relations, claiming that the regime's moves for "switchover in policy toward the north" was a mere cosmetic.

If the Lee group is honestly interested in the humanitarian work such as reunion of separated families and relatives, it should officially apologize for its crimes before the Koreans in the north and the south and state to the world its willingness to implement the historic north-south joint declarations.
