American Society Ridden with Contradiction and Corruption
|
|
Pyongyang, February 24 (KCNA) -- There are two different realities in the United States which provide a clear proof of social contraction and corruption there. People are staging demonstrations in protest against the capitalist system which forces poverty and non-rights on an overwhelming majority of the population while a tiny handful of presidential candidates are busy collecting a fabulous amount of money to win the election. The Anti-Wall Street demos in the U.S. are unabated this year, too. On Jan. 17 there was a protest against the unpopular policy of a tiny handful of ruling forces and the greed of monopoly plutocrats in Washington. Some days later, many citizens in San Francisco took to the streets and cursed the American society that caused a miserable reality in which overwhelming majority of toiling masses are unable to live in their own houses. Citizens in Washington D.C. and Oakland of California staged demos in protest against the capitalists' unlimited avarice and offered strong resistance against the riot police. The waves of demos against capitalism that swept across the U.S. clearly show the social contradictions deeply rooted in its society. This is well illustrated by the results of the opinion poll conducted by an institution of the U.S. 66 percent of the respondents said that "serious contradictions exist between the poor and the rich." Against the background of the ever-deepening social contradictions presidential candidates are locked in a hot scramble in the U.S. with the election due in November this year. They are busy collecting more election funds to occupy Presidency. According to the amount of election money collected by the candidates in the first three months ending January this year made public by the Federal Election Commission late in January, the incumbent president accumulated about 40 million U.S. dollars, topping the list. Candidate from the Republican Party Mitt Romney collected 24 million U.S. dollars while Newt Gingrich, former speaker of the House of Representatives, collected 9.8 million U.S. dollars. As seen above, the tiny handful of ruling quarters are vying with each other to collect election money to seek presidential office, turning a deaf ear to the voices of the toiling masses demanding jobs and bread. This reality glaringly proves that the U.S. has no future. |
