The conference followed the Lee Myung Bak "government's" Feb. 21 announcement that it would put the FTA into force on March 15.

Accusing the puppet regime's plan to effectuate the shackling FTA with the U.S. at any cost, the headquarters recalled that the "government" and ruling party have had behind-the-scenes negotiations with the U.S. for the conclusion of the FTA. They also railroaded the "motion calling for the ratification of the proposal for the FTA" despite people's strong opposition, it said.

Though the inequality of the agreement was brought to light, the authorities sold off the people's interests through humiliating diplomacy, thereby increasing the imbalance between south Korea and the U.S., it added.

Such a humiliating FTA would restrict south Korea's policy-making rights and jurisdiction and Americanize its economic system, it deplored.

The headquarters would stage an all-people action on Feb. 25 to prevent the FTA from taking effect and have it retracted through more powerful movement, it declared.

They would surely punish Lee Myung Bak, the ruling party and their followers who quenched the people's will, it said.

They called for having FTA, a treacherous and fabricated agreement, scrapped with immediate effect and preventing it from being put into force as it took no account into the people's livelihood and mindset.

They also appealed to the infuriated people to resolutely check FTA.
