Jong Chun Mi bagged one gold and two silver medals in the 2011 Asian Weightlifting Championship.

Yun Un Hui and Kim Jin A came first in the women's 1 500m race at the international track-and-field tournament held in Taipei of China and in the women's 44kg category event of the 2011 Asian Youth and Juvenile Judo Championship respectively.

Kim Song Nam finished first in the men's singles of the Pyongyang International Invitational Table Tennis Tournament.

Footballers, marathoners and wrestlers also proved successful in international tournaments.

The Team bagged gold medals in 30 odd events of the national championship and youth championship, with more than 130 players making good results in them.

Pyon Jong Ho, head of the Team, said that these results were thanks to the successful training of players and reserves.

The Pyongyang Sports Team, found in April Juche 45 (1956), has produced many merited players, including Kim Chol Hwan, Kim Yong Sik, Kim Kwang Suk, Han Phil Hwa and Hong Un Jong.
