It accused the U.S. and south Korea of reaching an agreement on making FTA take effect on March 15.

South Koreans and opposition parties are becoming increasingly vocal opposing the sycophantic and traitorous and humiliating FTA and there is still the concern about the provision on the "system of legal action by investor's state", it said.

After railroading the "motion calling for ratifying the FTA" through the plenary session of the "National Assembly" in November last year, the Lee Myung Bak "government" is busy with the moves to effectuate the humiliating agreement.

It also recalled that the authorities modified as much as 26 provisions of laws on the tax system, environment, healthcare and right to intellectual property and others in order to move up the day the agreement becomes effective come what may.

On the other hand, the U.S. revised only four acts, stipulating the provision in the law in force that all the domestic acts that conflict the agreement shall remain valid in the future.

In case that the agreement takes effect under this situation, it will be little short of upsetting the balance of interests.

The Lee "government" would be well advised to totally reexamine FTA, though belatedly, the editorial stressed.
