Senior U.S. Military Official's Remarks on DPRK's Provocation Dismissed

Pyongyang, February 29 (KCNA) -- Locklear was informally designated as commander-in-chief of the U.S. forces in the Pacific, at a recent hearing of the Senate Armed Services Committee, made such reckless remarks that he is greatly concerned about the possible provocation from the DPRK. He also said when appointed as commander of the U.S. forces in the Pacific, he would handle the north Korean issue on a top priority basis and it is necessary for the U.S. to boost the capability for gathering intelligence about the DPRK. Rodong Sinmun Wednesday observes in a bylined commentary in this regard: This is anti-DPRK jargons not worth even a passing note. It explains who is really likely to make provocations. There are a series of moves between the DPRK and the U.S. for dialogue these days. There are, however, conflicting developments. The U.S. side is staging war maneuvers to do harm to the dialogue partner while conducting talks for narrowing down differences between the two sides. This only makes the process for settling the problems complicated. What should not be overlooked is the fact that the above-said brass hat commanded the operation for "invasion of Libya" last year in the capacity of commander of fleet in Europe and Africa and commander of NATO forces. It is nobody's secret how this operation was kicked off after perpetrating provocations against the opponent. Clear is the ulterior aim of the U.S. ruling quarters that informally designated the above-said war-maniac as commander timed to coincide with the pursuance of the policy of attaching importance to Asia-Pacific and the announcement of the new defense strategy in the U.S. It is to launch the second Korean War on the Korean Peninsula, drawing on the experience gained in the actual war. |
