The public security authorities mobilized more than 150 riot police and 25 police vehicles at 8 in the morning to completely block the entrance to the hall. Then they barred officials from entering the hall before conducting a search operation.

They confiscated computers, files, etc. in the course of the search that lasted for as long as four hours.

They searched every floor and even the roof of the hall which have nothing to do with their activities.

The authorities also instigated media of Japan to spread wild rumors about the DPRK and Chongryon to tarnish the image of Chongryon organizations.

They took this tyrannical action on false charges that a compatriot in Tokyo "illegally exported" computers to the DPRK.

The officials of the hall offered stubborn resistance against the riot police in protest against the search operation.

Upon hearing the news of the search, officials of the Chongryon organizations in Tokyo, the Korean Youth League in Japan and the Korean Democratic Women's Union in Japan and compatriots joined in the protest.

The security authorities also conducted a search operation against the offices of the Itabashi branch of the Chongryon and Chukai Travel Agency under Chongryon on similar charges on the same day.
