Pyongyang, March 1 (KCNA) -- New fruit farms have made their appearances one after another in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. In this regard, KCNA had an interview with the vice-director of the Korean Fruits Corporation, Han Sung Hyon. He said: The Taedonggang Combined Fruit Farm has turned into one of the nation's leading fruit producers in two years. About 1 000 hectares of farmland were rezoned, with millions of dwarf apple trees planted there in a three-stage way. Now it has become a fruit supplier to Pyongyang citizens. The Kosan Fruit Farm in Kangwon Province has finished rezoning farmland and covered hundreds of hectares of orchards with dwarf apple trees in a short period. Following the example of the Ryongjon Fruit Farm, all other fruit farms in South Hamgyong Province have pressed ahead with farmland rezoning in order to plant high-yield strains of fruit trees. When the rebuilding of fruit farms in Pukchong County is completed, the county will get thousands of hectares of orchards. North Phyongan Province has taken the Songhan Fruit Farm as a model, while South and North Hwanghae provinces have channeled big efforts into putting their orchards on a modern basis. |
