KCNA Commentary Refutes Japan's Claim to Tok Islets
Pyongyang, March 5 (KCNA) -- An "annual event" for dominium over Tok Islets was held in Shimane Prefecture, Japan on Feb. 22.

At the event attended by Dietmen, "testimonials" were awarded to those who allegedly provided data on Tok islets.

And such reckless remarks that "A state devoid of territorial consciousness has no reason to exist" were openly made there.

This is a wanton infringement on the Korean nation's territorial sovereignty and a serious crime.

Tok Islets are part of the inviolable territory of Korea from the historical, geographical and legal points of view.

This was clearly proved through old maps worked out in Japan and the decision of the Japan shogunate dated January of 1696 in which it recognized the dominium of Korea over the Ullung Island and Tok Islets.

However, the Japanese reactionaries, disregarding these historical facts, have recently tried to set the "Takeshima Day" as an all-Japan "memorial" day. They are even mulling creating a department exclusively dealing with issues related to Tok Islets.

The Japanese reactionaries' territorial claim to the islets is to convince its people that Tok Islets belong to Japan, get them ready for war of territorial expansion. This is also aimed to internationally justify their move to seize Tok Islets.

Japan's ulterior objective is to plunder the islets of their abundant underground and marine resources and to furthermore realize their ambition of reinvading Korea with the islets as a springboard.

It is the trite way employed by Japan to stoke territorial disputes and provoke a war of aggression under that pretext.

The army and people of the DPRK will never remain an on-looker to the Japanese reactionaries' reckless claim to Tok islets and their moves to secure justifications for reinvading Korea.

Neither compromise nor concession can be allowed as for territorial issue.

Japan's ambition to grab Tok Islets will never come true.
