Afforestation Drive Brisk in DPRK
Pyongyang, March 5 (KCNA) -- An afforestation drive is now progressing apace in the DPRK.

The Ministry of Urban Management has drawn up a plan for improving the greenbelts of streets, parks and pleasure grounds in provincial seats across the country.

Under this plan, information-sharing meeting and technical training course on afforestation are going on to raise the working ability of officials and technicians in the field of urban management.

In the capital city of Pyongyang a brisk campaign was launched to create large-scale greenbelts with various species of flowering shrubs in harmony with features of streets.

Meanwhile, efforts have been directed to the work for putting floriculture on a scientific and intensive basis.

The floricultural farms have introduced advanced cultivation method through multimedia.

Seats of provinces in the country, including South and North Phyongan provinces, have planted many trees of good species suited to local climatic and soil conditions, creating greenbelts and floral beds under a blueprint.

Tree nurseries in different parts of the country take practical measures to transplant roadside trees including zelkova and dawn redwood and shrubs.
